MUSINA ÉBOBISSÉ / Saxophone
Born in 1990, Musina grew up in Strasbourg, where he was introduced to music at an early age. He began playing the saxophone at the age of 8 at the Strasbourg Conservatoire.
In 2008, he joined the Jazz and Improvised Music department of the CRR de Strasbourg, where he studied with Eric Watson, Michael Alizon, Philippe Aubry and Bernard Struber.
Struber, and passed his DEM in 2012! At the same time, he is studying sociology at the University of Strasbourg, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 2012. Involved in the
Strasbourg scene, Musina is developing his versatility and experience in different styles.
In 2013, he entered the Jazz Institute in Berlin, where he studied with musicians such as Jim Black, John Hollenbeck, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Greg Cohen and Peter Weniger. Inspired by the
Berlin jazz scene, he performed there regularly between 2014 and 2019 with various bands and projects.
Musina wins second prize at the International Jazz Composition Competition in Katowice in 2018. He returns to France and settles in Paris between 2019 and 2020.
August 2019 sees the release of “Timeprints”, his first quintet album as leader, on the critically acclaimed German label Double Moon, nominated for the Deutsche Jazz Preis in
2021.! In 2020, he takes part in the Berlin albums! DIKY LYS by Ganna and Liquid Circle by Hans Anselm Big Bang. He releases two albums with his solo project Blendreed (ambient),
“Moonstreet” (2021) and “Tales of Tides”(2022).
Since 2019, Musina has been playing and touring regularly as sideman and leader in Europe alongside Ganna, Musina Ebobissé Quintet, Olga Amelchenko, Kemaca Kinetic, Ozma,
Thomas de Pourquery, James Morrisson, Joko, Thijs de Klijn and other projects. His Berlin quintet’s second album, “Engrams”, will be released in March 2023 on the Jazzdor Series label.
